Introduction

This is the introduction page of the Coalition Clan website. Here you will find a detailed description of the Coalition so that you may decide if you wish to join us. Let's get started!

The creation of the Coalition

The Coalition was created on January 25 2005 by Yak-9, Cid and Necrolord. Initially the clan played on Bobways WOS mod server, but since then we've expanded to the Unexplored Systems server. After getting set up on both servers, the Coalition immediately became the most powerful clan and earned the respect and friendship of admins, players and other clans. There are however those who wish to oppose us, but they are deal with quickly.

Being part of the Coalition

Upon joining the Coalition, a player can request a starting loan. The amount that the player receives is deducted from his credits (see the forum for details). The credits are one of the factors that count towards promotions. In order to increase the credits, a player must donate cash in-game to the clan treasury. To do this simply state that you wish to make a donation to any of the High Command staff. The amount you donate will be added to your forum credits. The other factors that count towards getting a promotion are activity, skills, cooperation with other team members, following rules, number of merits/demerits etc. A member of the Coalition High Command has authority to promote or demote any member, but the clan leader (Yak-9) has the final say. Also, the rank at which a new member starts is decided by the High Command according to the above standards.

The ranks are directly linked to the ships that members may use in-game. So for example, low ranking players must use the fighters that their unit uses. However, all members may have an untagged character with which they are free to do as they please. Let it be noted though, that any member who breaks server rules and/or gets banned weather tagged or not, will be kicked from the clan. Following Server and clan rules is a must for all players.

One of the advantages of being a member of the Coalition is that every two weeks there is a clan-wide election for Clan Leader and the other administrative positions. In turn, the clan leader appoints the Command Staff for each unit. This however may change at any time, since these rules are still being written.

Joining a Unit

When a player joins the Coalition he must decide which unit he wishes to be in. These Units are:

Coalition Naval Forces

Tag: [CNF]

The Naval Forces are led by the Admiral and are a great power both in space and on planets. When in Oceania (the WOS mod server) players can pilot a wide range of ships, from small speedboats to massive Battleships (depending on ranks). The huge ocean of this planet offers lots of ways to gain money and many enemies to fight. When is space, members of the Navy must help protect the Coalition home planet and fight off enemy clans. Again, depending on the player's rank he will have access to the corresponding ships. So for example, in order to be able to fly a Battleship the player must be a Vice Admiral.

Coalition Air Forces

Tag: [CAF]

The Air Forces, led by the General, are the backbone of the Coalition's Oceania Military. With plenty of planes to fly and a huge map to explore, pilots have lots of ways to earn a living and prove their worth to the clan. The Air Force does not have a corresponding Space Unit, so pilots who wish to explore space are enlisted to the navy and put under the command of the Admiral(s). To distinguish them from the Navy pilots, Air force pilots can enlist in the Coalition Space Force, which is still led by the Admiral(s) but helps avoid confusion.

Coalition Space Forces

Tag: [CSF]

The Coalition Space Force is essentially the same as the Coalition Naval Force in space, but the tag [CSF] is usually used by Air Force pilots who wish to distinguish themselves from Navy pilots. A member of the Navy may still choose to use the [CSF] tag as it makes little difference. Both Naval Forces and Space Forces are led by the Admiral(s).

Coalition Economy

Tag: [CE]

The Coalition Economy is available to all Coalition members. With Coalition economy characters, players are restricted to trading. The goal of the Coalition Economy is to make cash for clan. A good idea is for new players to make a [CE] character with which they can make money intended for donation to the treasury. This is a quick and easy way to help the clan and increase your chances of being promoted. [CE] characters fly mainly freighter ships.

Red Guard

Tag: [CSF-RG]

The ultimate fighting unit. Members of the red guard are issued cash and are expected to attack KOS enemies whenever they can find them. Only fighters who have shown great valour in combat are enlisted.

Coalition Space Ship

Tag: [CSS]

This is only usable by members who are authorised to use battleships. If needed they will receive funding from the Coalition Treasury.

Depending on the unit a player chooses he will have access to different ships and be led by a different member of the commanding staff. A player cannot be in both the CNF and CAF. Players must choose one or the other. Later on a player may request a transfer, but it is up to the corresponding unit leader weather you the request will be accepted.

Playing the game!

In-game, clan members are required to follow rules and respect other players. Members will receive a demerit (see forum) for breaking Coalition Law or a merit for showing bravery in a battle or for outstanding accomplishments. The most important thing though is to follow orders given by Unit Leaders or High Command Staff. Disrespect is not treated kindly and will not help you get higher up in ranks. Also, higher ranking members do not have authority over lower ranking ones. They should help the lower ranking members and pass on any knowledge or skills through training. Doing this will help gain higher ranks.

On the servers that the Coalition plays, there are both friendly and hostile clans. Status with each clan is posted on the forum and in the news section of the site if it happened recently. There are 5 possible statuses:

Allied: An allied clan is a great friend of the Coalition. Members of both clans should feel like clan-mates with each other, and are encouraged to help them out in times of need.

Friendly: A friendly clan is not as close as an allied one, but still you are encouraged to help a member of a friendly clan if the need should arise.

Neutral: These clans are neither friendly or hostile. The status of neutural can vary depending on the situation, but you should never attack a member of these clans unless fired upon first. If you are attacked by a member(s) of a neutral clan you should immediately report it to the Coalition High Command so they may asses the situation.

Hostile: Clan members are advised to avoid contact with hostile clans, but if in a tight spot you shouldn't hesitate to attack.

KOS: This stands for Kill On Sight. Clans with this status are mortal enemies of the Coalition and should be hunted down and killed. Our members are encouraged to kill members of these clans as bravery in these battles is rewarded with merits and occasionally with a cash prize.
